Transfer your PC display to your TV
Follow the guide below to help you display your computer's screen on the TV screen. Platinum Computers help guide to setup the display from your PC or laptop to your TV using Windows 7 Windows Vista or XP. Watch your movies, home slide show, family photos or listen to music via your TV.
- Connect your computer to the TV using your video cable. If you are not sure what cable to use, If you are not sure what cable to use, see our Video / Audio cables.
- On your TV select the correct input channel (eg PC Input, HDMI).
- On your laptop, click [Start] in the taskbar, select 'all programs' and click 'ATI control centre'.
The ATI Catalyst control centre should now appear: - Choose how you want your picture to display by clicking 'Displays Manager' on the left hand side and right clicking on the 'display television/computer' icon.
- From the list, choose your display mode from the options below:
- Single - choose this to show the image on just one screen, either the TV or the computer.
- Clone - choose this to show the same image on both screens.
- Extended - choose this option to expand your image across both screens.
- Select your main display - this is the one you will be sharing and is shown by the icon on the left in the displays menu. To change
- Right click on the icon on the right hand side.
- Select 'swap displays'
Changing the resolution, colour and refreshing rate
Now you've shared your display on your TV set, you can tweak the picture by changing the colour, resolution and refreshing rate.
- Click on the TV or computer icon to choose which display to change.
- In the 'selected display' menu below, modify the settings so they are the same as your TV set - this is usually 1920x1080 or 1360x768 but to be sure, consult your TV manual.
- Once you have chosen your settings, click 'apply' to confirm.
Scaling the image
Change the size of the picture to get the best possible display by following these steps:
- In the Display manager menu click the computer icon.
- Select the Computer / Notebook Panel properties menu.
- Select the preferred scaling option from the following:
- Preserve Aspect ratio: This will show the image with black bars around the edges. Use this if the image is distorted in full screen.
- Full Screen: This option will use the scale selected in the graphic card and will fill the TV screen.
- Centered: Displays the image in the centre of the TV screen, surrounded by a black box. Use this is the image appears blurry.
- Once you have chosen your scaling option, click 'confirm' 'confirm'.
You can also move the position of the picture on the TV screen by following these steps:
- In the Displays Manager menu, click the TV icon.
- Select 'Monitor Properties' menu from the list on the left hand side.
- Select 'Adjustments'.
- Use the arrows to select the position or size of the image on your TV set and once you are happy with it, click 'apply'.
Modify the colour settings on your picture by following the steps below:
- In Displays Menu click the display - either the computer or the TV screen - you want to modify.
- In the Graphic settings menu on the left hand side, select Colour menu.
- Choose your preferred options for gamma, brightness and contrast.
- Select apply to confirm the moderations.
